Health and Safety Policy
The University has developed a policy structure which reflects relevant health and safety legislation and comprises three levels as identified below.
All policies developed since September 2012 are in bullet format and have the same aesthetic appearance. They include clear details of roles and responsibilities which if followed will help ensure legal compliance. All existing health and safety policies will be updated to the new format over the period 2012/13 and be approved by the University Health & Safety Committee before being made available for use. All policies will be reviewed routinely every two years or after any significant change whichever is the sooner.
Level 1
Level 1 is the highest and most strategic, consisting of the University's Health and Safety Policy which has been approved and endorsed by University Council. The policy includes a Statement of Intent plus two additional sections covering Arrangements and Organisation.
Level 2
Beneath the Health & Safety Policy are a small number of policies which provide an overview of the areas they cover. They are primarily strategic in nature and reflect both legislation and the structure of the Staying Safe and Well website.
