Everyone involved in site management has a range of health and safety responsibilities.   The University's role in most new construction and refurbishment projects will be as a client.    As a client the University is required under health and safety legislation to:

  •  Assess and ensure the competence of all those involved with the project

  • Tto provide sufficient information about the project and site prior to construction

  • To appoint a CDM Co-ordinator and Principal Contractor for notifiable projects

  • Make arrangements for managing and monitorin the project

     

Notifiable Projects are those which last longer than 30 days or require more than 500 person days of work.  Notifiable Projects must adhere to legislation and the HSE informed.
