Staff Recognition Award Scheme

The annual Staff Recognition Award scheme recognises individual members, or small groups, of current support staff who have not only shown excellence in the way in which they have undertaken their duties, but who have also contributed to the broader life of the University during the last year. This scheme is separate and distinct from the Contribution Pay Scheme.

Ways of demonstrating this type of contribution can include:

  • showing initiative, innovation or creativity
  • showing highly developed customer care skills (to either internal or external customers)
  • providing high quality services
  • working beyond the call of duty to the benefit of the University

Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution

For 2017, in addition to the Staff Recognition Award, there will be a special one-off "Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution" to mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Bath.

This unique award is to recognise a current or ex-member of non-academic support staff who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the success of the University in its first fifty years.

The Special Contribution Award winner will be personally selected by the Vice-Chancellor from your nominations and will be presented with the Award at the Staff Recognition evening taking place in June 2017.


Nominations for both the Staff Recognition Award/s and Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution will be open until Monday 24th April 2017. Please complete the Nomination Form, marking clearly which award you are nominating for (Staff Recognition Award or Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution) and return it to the Department of Human Resources, Wessex House 3.22.

All staff other than academics are eligible to be nominated for an award. Any member of staff or any student may make a nomination. The Staff Recognition Award can recognise an individual or small group, the Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution will recognise an individual only.

The Selection Committee will consider nominations for the Staff Recognition Award by any appropriate means, and will make initial recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor for her final consideration as to the winner/s. The Vice-Chancellor will then present the Staff Recognition Award/s to the successful nominee(s) at the University's Staff Recognition Evening taking place in June 2017.

With regards to the one-off Vice-Chancellor's 50th Award for Special Contribution and due to the unique nature of the award; the Selection Committee will not be part of the process. All considerations, with regards to the Award, will be made solely by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath.
