imitating the dog & Pete Brooks – KellerMan

Sat 17 Nov, 2007, ICIA Arts Theatre

KellerManFive days ago Harry’s wife and child were killed. At least this is what he thinks and tells his doctors. Diagnosed as delusional, Harry is housed in a psychiatric hospital overlooking the Thames on the outskirts of London. Here, he struggles to come to terms with a tragedy that nobody believes has occured. Here, he tries to prove them all wrong by claiming that he can travel in time to change the order of events. Here, he attempts to go back to the beginning to undo it all. Here, he claims he smells the sea and imagines a London that is devastated by the rising oceans.

imitating the dog fuses spectacular live action, digital media and design to create off-kilter worlds. Drawing on the genres of the graphic novel and filmic narrative, KellerMan creates a highly disturbing world of a mind tortured by grief, whilst being haunted by love. Sumptuous in sound, visual detail and in storytelling, KellerMan is a moving and unforgettable new performance work.

A return visit for this beguiling, boundary-breaking company following their critically acclaimed international tour of Hotel Methuselah.

An ICIA co-commission with Nuffield Theatre, Lancaster and The Cochrane Theatre, London.
