A compelling new piece of dance theatre explored the life of Queen Elizabeth 1. Regina fused dance, text and video to create a theatrical portrait of this iconic monarch in an age of political intrigue and conspiracy. A powerful woman ruling in a man’s world, an ageing queen famed for her striking looks, a monarch dying without an heir, Regina examined the tensions found in Elizabeth as both an icon and an individual.
For Regina, award-winning choreographer Tom Sapsford (Royal Ballet, Michael Clark) collaborated with cutting-edge computer artists KMA (Darshan Singh Bhueller, DV8) and designer Stevie Stewart (Bodymap, Kylie Minogue) to realise the rich imagery of Elizabeth’s world.
