Working with Artists

ICIA invests in a number of artists, performers and musicians – from the start of an idea to its final resolution. We nurture long-term relationships, giving artists every opportunity and resource to explore, question and shape their own practice.

Enabling this exchange of ideas through artist-in-residence schemes, commissioning and collaborative partnerships with a wide variety of internal University departments and external partners, our programme of work is new, innovative, sophisticated and of the highest quality.

We are also an organisation of strategic importance within and beyond the creative sector. We lead and facilitate collaborative partnerships at regional, national and international levels with far-reaching implications for the development of cultural strategies and capacity-building in the sector.

Artist Residencies

We initiate, facilitate and give curatorial support to artists working in leading research departments with internationally renowned experts in their field. Our cross art-form team are proactive curators and creative producers, each with substantial knowledge and experience within their specialist art-form. Working together they provide artists with support within and between a range of arts disciplines, responding to artists’ needs depending on where their lines of investigation take them.

Commissioning & Artist Support

ICIA, University of Bath is amongst the leading commissioning entities based at a University in the UK. We identify emerging artistic talent, creating partnerships and make long-term investments to support the development of practice. This includes access to ICIA expertise and resources to provide sufficient space and time for the research, creation and development of the highest quality new work.

Projects & Partnerships

ICIA plays a key role in the strategic development of the arts sector in the South West. We are often the catalyst for partnerships with external agencies, organisations and local authorities. Key cross-sector partnerships have also been developed, including working with internal University departments on major projects and conferences.
