About Classes & Workshops
- The classes and workshops are led by experienced and professional tutors.
- Places must be booked in advance.
- Please make sure you arrive 10 minutes before your class is due to start to allow time to register and set up or change into suitable clothing.
- If you do not attend the first two sessions of your course we will email you. In these circumstances we reserve the right to offer the place to someone on the waiting list.
Reserve Date: For Rescheduled Classes
If a class is cancelled by ICIA during its run, a replacement class will be held on the reserve date. Please refer to our refunds document for further information.
VISUAL ART CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
The classes and workshops are suitable for all levels of experience (unless otherwise stated).
CLASSES
Members of the public and University of Bath staff need to bring their own materials to the class.
WORKSHOPS
All materials are included in the price for one-off workshops.
DANCE CLASSES
For health and safety reasons your place on these classes is subject to your ability, as judged by the tutor.
Please do not wear outdoor shoes on the dance floor, you can get specialist dance footwear from these local dance shoe shops.
What to wear:
Ballet – Wear loose comfortable clothes and ballet shoes. Ballet shoes are available from all good dance stores.
Jazz Dance – Wear loose comfortable clothes. Jazz shoes are ideal for this class although plimsolls or trainers will suffice. Jazz shoes are available from all good dance stores.
Street Dance – Wear loose comfortable clothes. In terms of footwear, it’s dance sneakers, or trainers that look like dance sneakers (i.e. Reeboks).
Contemporary – Wear loose comfortable clothes. Contemporary dance is done in bare feet.
Dance Class Levels:
Ballet
- Beginners - Limited or no previous experience is necessary.
- Improvers - You should be Grade 4 Standard.
- Intermediate - You should have reached the highest grades or have passed an intermediate exam.
- Pointe Work - Available only to ‘Intermediate’ class attendees, or students who are Elementary RAD level, or equivalent.
Jazz Dance
- Beginners - No previous experience is necessary.
- Intermediate - You should have two years experience and the ability to pick up skills quickly.
Street Dance
- Beginners - No previous experience is necessary.
- Intermediate - You should have two years experience and the ability to pick up skills quickly.
Contemporary
- Beginners - No previous experience is necessary.
- Intermediate - Previous dance experience is necessary. The pace is faster and the dance sequences are longer.
- Advanced - For experienced or professional dancers. The class will have a range of influences, including Cunningham and release techniques.
MUSIC CLASSES
On Samba Drumming and DJ Skills equipment will be provided.
MUSIC TUITION
You will need your own instrument except for piano lessons.
