Zimbabwean musician and founder and Artistic Director of Mhararano -- The Mbira Academy, Chartwell Dutiro returns to Bath to play a free concert.

Chartwell is also piloting a 5 day course on Zimbabwean music.

Chartwell Dutiro grew up in Zimbabwe playing mbira, an ancient instrument consisting of at least 22 metal keys mounted on a wooden soundboard, and is now regarded as a world-class soloist and ensemble member. He toured the world for eight years as mbira player, saxophonist and arranger with the internationally acclaimed Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited. Moving to the UK, he formed Spirit Talk Mbira in 1997 who performed at ICIA in March 2010.
