To mark the opening of his exhibition, artist Alex Pearl talks to JJ Charlesworth, Art Critic and Reviews Editor for Art Review. Pearl's work takes Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition as its starting point. Both haunting and humorous, his mini epic films, texts, drawings and sculptures carry an acceptance of failure and disappointment as important parts of the human condition. Pearl playfully makes light of his work's own limitations and his hopeless desire for greatness. His storytelling, 'fibbing' and exaggerations can be found online and he has exhibited internationally.
