Ruth Maclennan’s video installations are the result of performances she constructs, creating a collision of different perspectives within a physical, linguistic and social architecture. She is concerned with the external pressures that are changing our lives in a fast-moving global society.

In this talk she discusses her work and the ideas behind Dialogues, her series of five video pieces begun in 2000. Minutely observed, at times moving and funny, they are a disconcerting take on corporate language, media, and the urban environment. Maclennan is in conversation with Prof Victor Seidler, whose new book is Embodying Identities: Culture, Differences and Social Theory (Policy Press, 2010).
