Richard Wentworth is one of the most influential artists working in Britain today. Prior to graduating from the Royal College of Art in the 1970s he worked with Henry Moore as an assistant in 1967. Since graduating he has played a leading role in New British Sculpture. For this season’s artist lecture programme, he will be discussing his work and his influences.

Wentworth documents the everyday, paying attention to objects, and occasional and involuntary geometrics as well as uncanny situations that often go unnoticed.

By transforming and manipulating industrial and found objects into works of art, Wentworth subverts their original function and extends our understanding of them by breaking the conventional system of classification and altering the traditional definition of sculpture and photography.
