Lone Twin
Speeches
- Fri 11 Sep - Sun 13 Sep, Fri 6.30pm, Sat & Sun 2pm & 5pm
- Kensington Meadows, off London Road, Bath
Internationally celebrated performance company, Lone Twin, bring their extraordinary project Speeches to Bath following its success at the Barbican's bite08 Festival. Members of the community living and working around Kensington Meadows have been recruited to develop a speech to be given in public. With the help of professional speechwriter Helen Mackintosh and Lone Twin, participants create proclamations based on their experience of the area. Hear about life on a barge from a canal boat dweller, the personal passions of a local activist, and find out how things have changed from a resident of twenty years. The result is a remarkable, heart-felt event, promising a surprising and truly diverse collection of private thoughts shared in a public space.
Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters of Lone Twin produce work that intrigues, entertains and embraces life to the full, for both the stage and outdoor settings.
"Rescues the speech from the politician, and puts speaking about ourselves, and listening, back at the heart of everyday life" Guardian
