ICIA Facilities

ICIA has various music practice rooms, rehearsal and performance spaces available for use by students and staff. To access some of these facilities, you will need to purchase a Music Practice Room Card (more information below).

A brief outline of each of our practice and performance spaces is given here. For more detail on how to book the rooms and the various conditions and restrictions applicable to each space, see the separate guidelines.

Music Practice Room Cards

A Music Practice Room Card, together with a University Library Card, gives the holder access to the University's music practice facilities. Your card will be ready for collection from the ICIA Box Office (1E 2.1) 24 hrs after your online purchase (next weekday).

American Museum Bösendorfer Piano

American Museum Bösendorfer Piano (housed at the American Museum in Britain - a 10 minute walk from the main University campus)

ICIA has developed a partnership with the American Museum in Britain, with the purchase of a factory refurbished Bösendorfer Piano. The instrument was purchased with major support from The University of Bath Alumni Fund. The Piano is housed in the newly built Coach House, a spacious, quiet building nestled within the American Museum grounds. The housing of this Bösendorfer is an important new facet of the relationship between University of Bath and The American Museum in Britain, celebrating the 45th year of the University and the 50th year of the Museum.

This piano is available for practice for pianists certified at Grade 8 and above.* A special Music Practice Room Card is required for access. Please click here for a copy of the user agreement and terms (to be signed and brought to the ICIA Box Office, together with a passport-sized photograph of the cardholder).

The American Museum Piano will also be available for concerts and recitals by University of Bath students and staff on Wednesday afternoons. More information on concerts in this space will be available soon.

*Terms and conditions apply including the payment of a £50 returnable deposit.
