Introduction to our CPD courses in environmental topics
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses are suitable if you have identified a specific area of environmental management in which you would like to increase knowledge and skills. The short courses may also provide the opportunity to transfer to the MSc course at a later stage and you can be confident knowing that the course materials have been developed by one of the UK's leading universities.
Our student and graduate population (now totalling over a thousand) is diverse, with an age range of 21 to 67 years, learning at distance from over 40 countries.
Modules available for study are as follows:
- Integrated Environmental Management Core Module (certified by the IEMA)
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Environmental Audit
- Cost Benefit Analysis
- Life Cycle Assessment
- Clean Technology 1 (Waste Minimisation and Design for the Environment)
- Environmental Risk Management
- Energy Management
- Clean Technology 2 (Clean Process Design)

Students studying our distance learning modules may also attend our residential schools to deepen their understanding and hear from expert practitioners.
There are four start dates per year for CPD units: 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.
Please email iem@bath.ac.uk for a study plan for your chosen start date.
