Dedicated time to further your interdisciplinary research

Tuesday 27 March 2018

Bath academics wishing to earmark time to work on a research project involving mathematics, statistics or data science, can now apply to be seconded to the IMI.

Advance your interdisciplinary research project or collaborate with an industry partner

IMI Secondees 2017 - 2018The IMI Secondment Scheme is a unique opportunity for academic staff to dedicate time to advance their interdisciplinary research project, collaborate more closely with colleagues from other departments or work with an industry partner.

Permanent members of staff from all disciplines can apply, and the scheme is open to both researchers wishing to work with colleagues from the mathematical sciences, or for mathematicians who would like to collaborate with researchers from another discipline.

A catalyst for promising new research

The scheme aims to be a catalyst for promising new research and support closer collaboration between Bath academics and industry.

Approximately eight internal secondments are available for the 2018-19 academic year, each of which is awarded £5,000. You can use this money to pay for teaching cover, project costs or to employ one of IMI’s Commercial Research Associates to contribute to your research (subject to availability).

Our current group of secondees in 2017-18 includes both Lecturers and Professors and comprises staff from the Departments of Biology & Biochemistry, Economics, Health, Mathematical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and the School of Management.
