Summer research internship opportunities for undergraduate students

Tuesday 15 November 2016

Are you considering a career in research? Would you like to apply your knowledge gained from a course to a real research problem?

The IMI and SAMBa Undergraduate Research Internship programme is a perfect opportunity for students to gain valuable research experience working alongside an academic at the University of Bath, whilst at the same time getting a feel for what a career in science has to offer.

The programme is open to students studying a degree with a significant element of maths or statistics and your internship research project also has to contain a substantial component of either maths or statistics.

Promoting the use of the mathematical sciences across all academic disciplines, we actively encourage applications from students wishing to do an interdisciplinary project. Applications from female students are also actively encouraged.

Apply for one of approximately 15 internships

In the summer of 2017, we are offering approximately 15 internships to students who are supervised by one or more academics at the University of Bath. Of these, four are specifically earmarked for Mathematical Biology projects and have been generously funded by the BBSRC STARS programme.

Your internship can last for up to 10 weeks and you will receive a stipend of maximum £200 per week.

Last year 18 students took part in the programme, with students and supervisors coming from five different departments at the University of Bath. Read about the students’ experience.
