The University Charter sets out the objects of the University, and provides
a broad framework with which its structures must conform. The Charter
prescribes Statutes for the regulation of particular aspects of the governance
of the University, and makes provision for the University Council to create
Ordinances to direct and regulate the University, its members and affairs.
In addition, the Senate has the authority to make Regulations to regulate
the academic work of the University, the education and discipline of its
students, and such other matters as lie within the functions of Senate.
