Internal School of Management funding opportunities:

The School of Management has 4 main sources of internal funding for academics. These are the Conference fund, the Seeding fund, Impact fund and the Seminar fund.

The Conference Fund

The prime purpose of the Conference Fund is to resource the dissemination of international research outputs, as well as international collaborations and the development of research networks.

Prior permission or authorization is not required for conference related expenses, provided they are within in general remit of the fund - see Conference Fund GuidelinesPDF format - requires Acrobat Reader to view

However, prior permission is required before spending from the Essential Research Related Activities portion of the fund.

The Research Seed Corn Fund

Research policy in the School of Management places particular emphasis on developing research careers and also on encouraging Impact.

Calls are annual

In order to further strengthen support for early career researchers, the Executive Team has agreed to provide some targeted Research Seed Corn Fund. This fund will provide research funding of up to £2,000 over a period of a year. We hope to make up to 10 awards annually dependent on the quality of proposals.

Research funding is restricted to academic staff who are either probationers or in the two years immediately following probation. Applications from lecturers will also be considered in the two years following appointment. Staff will be restricted to one successful application.

The Seminar Fund

Each subject group is provided with a seminar fund for each academic year and should nominate a research seminar coordinator who will manage the programme and the budget in liaison with the Research Office. Before any speakers are confirmed they must be approved by the Research Office to ensure funding is available by completing Seminar Fund Request Part A. For assistance when planning seminars please contact the Research Office, 8 West 3.38.
