The Committee on the Office of Chancellor is a Joint Committee of Council and Senate and is responsible for making recommendations to Court via Council and Senate on the appointment of the Chancellor of the University. (Note: It is normal practice for the Vice-Chancellor to make an oral report to Senate and Council prior to appointment by Court.)

Approved by Privy Council in 1966.

In accordance with Section 3.1 of the Statutes, the successors to the first Chancellor shall be appointed by the Court, subject to the provisions of the Ordinances, of the recommendation of a Joint Committee consisting of three members of the Council and three members of the Senate together with the Vice-Chancellor who shall be Chair.

Dates of Meetings

The Committee will be convened as required.

Appointment of Chair: The Vice-Chancellor shall take the Chair.
Co-option: See Council Standing Orders 16(iv) and 16(v).
Alternates: See Council Standing Orders 17(ii) to (iv).
Quorum: One third of the membership (Council Standing Order 16(vi)).
Rules for voting: None specified.
Minutes: Submitted to Court.
