Work is currently under-way to produce policy for all the major types of records created and used in the University. All record retention periods proposed by the Records Management Steering Group and approved as policy are published in the University Records Retention Schedule which is regularly updated as new policies are approved.

Retention policies for over 150 different types of record have been approved and grouped into nine main categories as described below. Click on the links to the left to access each of the nine sections of the Records Retention Schedule.

1. Structure and management

This section relates to records arising from University organisational, strategic planning and management activities. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

2. Financial resources

This section covers records arising from activities relating to the organisation, management and administration of the University's financial resources. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

This section covers records arising from activities relating to the organisation, management and administration of the University's human resources. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

This section cover records arising from activities relating to the organisation, management and administration of the University's physical resources.

5. Student administration and support

This section relates to records arising from student administration and support activities. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

  • Student services to support learning

  • Student liasion

  • Student welfare

6. Information services

This section covers records arising from activities relating to the organisation, management and administration of the University's various information services. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

7. Learning and teaching

This section covers records arising from the learning and teaching activities of the University. It is divided into the following sub-sections:

This section covers records arising from the University's research and development activities. It is divided into the following sub-sections:
