Schoolmasters 133-8, Venturers 123-5

The PE teacher at mid-off was the trouble. Three of us got caught by him in succession, all fairly easy catches apart from the need to catch one of them in his right hand, using his left to repel his team-mates. We hadn't done too badly with the ball: all but one of their batsmen got a start, but only the PE teacher's apparently prolific son got past twenty, making a not very rapid thirty before becoming Gregory's usual left-handed victim. Rashid and Tom also picked up a wicket each for twenty-odd, Rob missed out on the wicket but also bowled tidily and Kevin and Chris prevented any mayhem at the end. But 123 was a stiffish target and Rashid departed unluckily, caught at the wicket down the leg side by the French mistress, whose glovework was generally rather good. We were just starting to accelerate when the PE teacher intervened, catching Roger, Alistair and Kevin, and after that even a vigorous counterattack led by Adam, and featuring a very large six, didn't get us really close..
