TRAC Steering Group
Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor’s Group, the Transparent Approach to Costing Steering Group (TRAC Steering Group) is responsible for promoting the clear understanding of the requirements of TRAC, managing its implementation and overseeing related returns to external bodies.

Terms of Reference
- To advise the Deputy Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to compliance with, and strategic implementation of, TRAC procedures.
- To promote the transparent approach to costing (TRAC) within the University.
- To guide the development of performance measures and policies that will help the University calculate the level of costs for its activities and ensure that they are sustainable and competitive.
- To make recommendations, based on the TRAC guidance, regarding investment in the ‘well founded laboratory’ and capital infrastructure in general.
- To specify data requirements and ensure that systems are robust and capable of providing a documented audit trail through which the assumptions and calculations of the processes can be demonstrated and supported.
- To monitor sector developments relating to TRAC.
- To oversee the implementation of TRAC Stage III.
- To ensure that the triennial Time Allocation Exercise is carried out in an efficient and effective manner and the data collection supports decision-making within the institution.
- To further develop the methodology for costing teaching activities for TRAC (T)
