New Rules for Research Project Costing
Background
Universities are being required by the government to
ensure the financial sustainability of their activities - teaching,
research and knowledge transfer. In the context of research, Universities
are being required to identify the full economic costs of research projects,
including provision for the maintenance of their research infrastructure
over the long term. This has significant implications for the future
costing of research projects.
Professor Kevin Edge, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research),
has recently lead a series of briefing meetings to inform academic and
support staff of the changes that will be required in project costing
and pricing methodologies and the timescale over which these will be
introduced.
