Visa advice: Lost passport and/or visa
If your passport is lost or stolen:
-
You will need to pay the full fee for a replacement visa.
-
You will need to provide a police report as evidence that your passport has been reported missing or stolen.
-
If you have lost your passport and visa, you must first apply to your country's government (Embassy of High Commission in the country where you are now) for a replacement passport, and then reapply for another visa. You may need to wait some time before you have your new passport.
-
If your visa was on a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card:
- If you are inside the UK: you must inform the Home Office by email and apply for a new BRP card within 3 months
- If you are outside the UK: you must apply for a Single Entry visa to return to the UK, then apply for a new BRP card
- Do not let your visa expire whilst waiting for a replacement BRP card - contact an adviser if your visa will expire (you may need to make a Tier 4 application without the passport, or withdraw your application if you are retuning home).
- If your visa was in your passport (entry clearance sticker):
- If you are inside the UK: you can transfer your visa to a BRP card
- If you are outside the UK: you will need to make a full Tier 4 application to replace it. No CAS is required, but you will need a student status letter, a tuition fees receipt and bank statements if possible (copies are accepted).
- Please bring your new passport and / or visa to 4 West Student Services so that we can update our records (this is a legal requirement).
- Further advice and information is available from UKCISA.
