Visa advice: Registering with the police
Do I need to register with the police ?
Look at the stamp in your passport, entry clearance sticker or Biometric Residence Permit (if you have one) - it will tell you if you need to register at the police station. If you do need to register then don't panic! You've got 7 days to do so.
The police will also come to campus during induction.Don't forget you also need to tell the police when you change your address or extend your visa. This is free.
How do I register with the police?
Arriving in September? Attend the registration session as part of the Orientation Programme during induction. They will register you and take your passport, then you will need to collect your passport from the Police Station about 1 week later.
Any other time: Within 7 days of arriving in the UK, go to the police station in Manvers Street, Bath (tel: 01225 842447). Ask for the Nationality Office, and give them the following:
- £34 cash
- Your passport
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Your Biometric Residence Permit if you have one
- A copy of your visa and passport (personal details page)
- Registration form
You can register at the police station from 09:00 -13:00 and 14:00-15:30, Monday to Friday. You don't need an appointment.
Tell the police if later in the year you change your address or extend your visa. This is free.
