Country Information
Netherlands

Welcome! My name is Virginia Irwin and I am the Deputy Head of the International Office and country manager for the European Union.

The University of Bath is active in the Netherlands and in 2009-2010 it is likely we shall be attending fairs and holding events. These will be published on the School of Management website as soon as they become available so do check regularly: http://www.bath.ac.uk/management/news_events/fairs_visits/

This will be a good opportunity to meet representatives from the School of Management.

There are about 25 Dutch students at the University of Bath. 5 are studying for BA/BSc programmes, 15 for MA/MSc programmes and about 7 for doctorates. Management, European Studies and Education are particularly popular subjects. Of course, as EU students, Dutch students pay the same tuition fee as a student from the UK.

Entry Requirements and How to Apply: Undergraduate Degrees

These are general guidelines only and exact requirements will vary on an individual basis and from subject to subject, so please do check the requirements for your programme.

All applications for our undergraduate programmes must be made through the UK’s central applications service, UCAS: www.ucas.ac.uk/studyuk/applying.html. Applications should be completed between 1 September 2009 and 15 January 2010 to start your course in October 2010. Your local British Council Office will be able to help you.

All applicants must meet our English Language entry requirements. You can find out more at: http://www.bath.ac.uk/international/apply/eng-lang.html. If you have taken other English language exams as part of your school studies such as GCSE, IGCSE, International Baccalaureate or A levels, you will not usually be required to also take IELTS or TOEFL.

Local System Schools

If you have finished the Dutch high school system with the Diploma Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (University Preparation Education) (VWO) you are able to apply for direct entry to an undergraduate programme in any subject. Typical offers are between 7/10 and 8/10.

International System Schools

The University particularly welcomes applications from students taking A Level examinations, European Baccalaureate and the International Baccalaureate (IB) for direct entry into its undergraduate programmes and the majority of Dutch students enter through this route. We require a minimum of three good A Levels or 32-38 points in the International Baccalaureate. Each course has its own requirements – see our undergraduate prospectus.

As a guideline, our current 2009-2010 tuition fees for a BSc /BA full time degree are £3,225. See http://www.bath.ac.uk/finance/student/

For more information on loans, visit the government information website.

As a guideline, our current 2009-2010 tuition fees for MSc/MA full-time degrees are £4240.
However, many programmes have different fees.
