Knowledge Exchange Grant awarded for new community engagement project
21 May 2012
We are pleased to announce a successful ESRC Small Knowledge Exchange Grant (£7,000) has been awarded to Prof David Miller, and doctoral candidate Rani Dhanda, for ‘Govanhill: A Community Engagement Project’.
Starting with the premise that sharing research and information with community groups is important, a research network has been established in the neighbourhood of Govanhill in Glasgow. The network consists of members of community groups and researchers working in the neighbourhood.
The group aims to facilitate community and third sector groups to become involved in all stages of research work. It is anticipated this will lead to co-production of knowledge, and for researchers to learn from and build upon the knowledge held in communities. It is envisaged this will increase usage of evidence based research by community groups.
In the present economic crisis, where all sectors are facing challenges, this project aims to maximise the social and economic benefits of research.
