Our policy themes
Many of the policy challenges that our societies face are complex. To understand and address them will require a strongly inter-disciplinary approach.
One of the major tasks of the Institute is to build such inter-disciplinary capacity, not only at our home campus, but also involving our international research networks. This we are doing around a number of key Policy Themes, which will develop and evolve in response to new and emerging policy challenges.
The approach we adopt is child- and youth-centred, prioritising the voices and perspectives of children & young people.
Focusing on technology & security, identity & conflict, complexity & crisis management, international order & supranational governance.
Encompassing international climate change negotiations, national environmental politics, carbon markets, CSR & behaviour change.
Our research is concerned with policies at local, national & global levels that will better harness the global political economy to the public good.
Our research seeks to understand policy-making and the institutional, social, economic and political processes involved.
We seek to improve the evidence base from which practitioners & policy makers draw policies & practices for health & wellbeing.
We seek to improve relevant evidence bases & to build research collaborations relating to work, poverty and social justice.
