Student Shadowing project

This project is one of our commitments to ensuring our students receive the highest quality learning and teaching experience.

The original project, launched in 2011 in collaboration with the University of Exeter, was funded by The Leadership Foundation and was designed to provide a two-way experience enabling institutional senior managers to learn about the daily life of a student and students to gain an insight into the management roles of a large organisation.

Building on the success of the project last year, a number of our senior management team have participated in the Shadowing project already this year including:

Aims and objectives

The main aim of the project is to provide a two-way experience enabling institutional senior managers to learn about the daily life of a student and students to gain an insight into the management roles of a large organisation.

For the student, it is an opportunity to learn about managing a large institution and to gain a different perspective, a ‘behind-the-scenes’ view of higher education and all that it entails.

For the manager, it provides an opportunity to revisit the student learning experience as it is in 2011 and to better understand the issues, challenges and general daily life of a 21st century student.
