About this course
Aims
The aim of this seminar is to introduce you to the Moodle Quiz activity for e-assessment purposes, in particular for diagnostic testing.
The session will begin by introducing examples of use of the Quiz activity at the University of Bath, including comments from practitioners - what did they did and how did they find the experience? Importantly, would they use the Quiz activity again?
We will take a walk through of the process of interacting with the Quiz activity from a students perspective, and how it can be used to encourage reflection. We will examine how the Quiz can be used by lecturers to provide feedback to students and how this can feed into face-to-face lectures, tutorials and/or problems classes.
Once further scenarios of use have been identified, the trainer will give details how you can get started on using the Quiz activity straightaway, highlighting areas were additional support is available.
Approach
The following principles underpin how we design and develop our face to face staff development workshops and seminars:
- Use a range of different styles
- Adopt an informal approach
- Focus on the participants' needs
- Act as a showcase for the effective use of appropriate technologies
- Contextualise how the workshop fits into our wider staff development programme
- Our role is to facilitate not to lecture
- Showcase case studies and uses from the University of Bath
