About this course
Description
There is a growing demand to provide flexible access to learning but few lecturers have thenselves learnt in this way. This course gives you the opportunity to learn from your experiences of working with others mainly online but also through a few short face to face meetings in the Claverton Rooms. You will be expected to contribute around 5 hours per week working together with other participants on group activities mediated through forums and wikis in the VLE (Moodle).You will have the opportunity to design your own group work activity which may be entirely online or take a blended approach incorporating face to face interaction. There will be resources and case studies available on Moodle and well as help and advice from the course co-ordinator.
The course will be tailored to individual's interests and needs. It is designed to run for three weeks and places are limited to 12.
The broad aims are to collaboratively answer the following questions;
- What are the potential benefits of forums and wikis for groupwork?
- What skills do students need to participate effectively in groupwork using wikis and forums? How can these skills be developed?
- What skills do tutors need to efficiently and effectively manage groupwork using wikis and forums?
- How can I design effective and engaging groupwork with forums and wikis?
