Aims:
- To help participants plan their teaching more systematically in order to help students achieve the desired learning outcomes
Learning outcomes
By the time you have completed this unit you should be able to:
- employ a systematic approach to course design based on sound curriculum design principles
- write learning outcomes for a unit template or individual session that are assessable and appropriate for the particular academic level
- select unit teaching and assessment approaches that help students meet the desired learning outcomes

- curriculum design models
- curriculum design principles, eg constructive alignment, strategies for supporting deep approach, active and autonomous learning
- guidelines for writing learning outcomes

This is a practical session in which you will design a short course in order to put the key stages of the curriculum design process into practice.
