Aims
In this session participants will have the opportunity to explore the characteristics of successful learning in their disciplines and consider how students might be given greater responsibility for various aspects of their learning based on these characteristics. The implications for the curriculum and the ways which we teach and assessto promote more active learning are likely to emerge as key issues, as will the changed relationships between students and staff and between students and their peers.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of participating in this session you will have:
- Characterised successful learning in your own and other disciplines
- Reflected on aspects of the curriculum, learning and assessment for which students might take greater responsibility
- Explored the nature of 'being' in your discipline as distinct from merely 'knowing' a lot about the subject
