About this course

Aims

The aim of this short session is to introduce you to a range of technologies that you might use to enhance the effectiveness of your teaching, learning and assessment. These will be linked to case studies of use, and where possible include examples from the University of Bath.

The emphasis is placed on what can e-learning do for you. Working from your own teaching or support context you will be encouraged to identify desirable enhancements, then to select appropriate technologies to support them. The session will develop through a number of hands-on activities based on authentic teaching tasks and use technologies available at the University.

Therefore, it is important if you can identify from reflecting on your teaching and support what you like it do, and/or problems you encounter. The session will develop through a number of hands-on activities based on authentic teaching tasks and use available technologies at the University.

Approach

The following principles underpin how we design and develop our face to face staff development workshops and seminars:

  1. Use a range of different styles
  2. Adopt an informal approach
  3. Focus on the participants' needs
  4. Act as a showcase for the effective use of appropriate technologies
  5. Contextualise how the workshop fits into our wider staff development programme
  6. Our role is to facilitate not to lecture
  7. Showcase case studies and uses from the University of Bath
