University Teaching Awards 2017: This Year's Winners!

The winners of the University Teaching Awards 2017 were announced at the Education Awards evening on the 2nd May 2017, a joint celebration with the Students' Union Academic Rep Awards. Winners were presented with an award plaque by Professor Peter Lambert, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching) and Professor Jonathan Knight, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research).

An outstanding set of nominations were received, from both staff and students. The Awards Committee would like to congratulate all nominees who have demonstrated exceptionally high quality learning, teaching and pastoral support activities. Of the fifty-seven nominations received, the winners are: 

Excellence in Doctoral Supervision Prize

In recognition of excellence in the supervision of doctoral students of all kinds.

Dr Marcelle McManus, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Mary Tasker Award

In recogniiton of excellence in teaching.

Dr Richard Joiner, Department of Psychology

John Willis Award

In recognition of accomplishment in research combined with a significant contribution to teaching, including pastoral support for students and PhD supervision.

Dr Richard Burke, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Innovation in Learning & Teaching Award

In recognition of significant contribution to innovation in curriculum design, content or delivery.

Dr Jessica Francombe-Webb, Department for Health

Leadership in Learning & Teaching Award

In recognition of exceptional examples of leadership in learning and teaching.

Dr Mary Hayden, Department of Education

Best Team in Support of Student Learning Award

In recognition of exceptional and/or innovative team work in the delivery of learning and teaching.
