National Student Survey - this year's Prize Winners
As part of this year's National Student Survey (NSS), five lucky students have won prizes following their completion of the survey. The five final year students contributed to an overall institutional response to the survey of 75%, our second highest response rate ever.
This year's winners were:
- Chris Ansell - Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering
- David Backhouse - Department of Chemical Engineering
- Sara Carney - Department of Natural Sciences
- Kathryn Saegert - Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology
- Victoria Williamson - Department of Psychology
Winning a range of fabulous prizes including a Champagne Tea in the Pump Room for four people, Twilight Package at the Thermae Bath Spa, two tickets to the Students' Union's Summer Ball, graduation photograph package and the cost of hire for a graduation gown, some of the winners shared their views on why they feel the NSS is so important.
Chris Ansell said:
'For me, the NSS is a vital chance for students to get their views heard by an independent organisation, enabling the University to use this feedback and improve year upon year.'
Kathryn Saegert added:
'I think it is important to complete the NSS as it is our opportunity to show the department how we feel and help them improve the student experience in the future.'
We place great importance on providing students with a range of feedback mechanisms which inform current and new developments to continue enhancing the student experience. According to figures released by the 2012 National Student Survey our students have an overall satisfaction rate of 91%. This gives us a ranking of fifth in the national table of over 250 higher education institutes for the second consecutive year.
We were awarded top ranking in four subject tables: Architecture (100% satisfaction); Civil Engineering (100%); Computer Science (98%) and Italian (91%).
Our students also ranked their Students’ Union as one of the top ten in the UK. We are proud of the warm community environment in which our students learn.
