University Teaching Awards 2013: This Year's Winners!

The winners of the University's Teaching Awards 2013 have been announced by Professor Bernie Morley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning & Teaching). Professor Morley said:

'On behalf of the University's Awards Committee, I am delighted to announce this year's awards winners. The Committee received an excellent set of nominations, from both staff and students, all of which demonstrated the exceptionally high quality of our learning, teaching and pastoral support activities. Receiving such high quality nominations made our decisions extremely difficult, to the extent that we have awarded the Mary Tasker Award jointly this year. The Committee members would like to extend their warmest congratulations to all our winners.'

  • The Mary Tasker Award - to recognise excellence in teaching - Dr Christopher Clarke, Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering and Dr Aydin Nassehi, Department of Mechanical Engineering
  • The John Willis Award - to recognise accomplishment in research combined with a significant contribution to teaching including pastoral support for students and PhD supervision - Dr Simon Lewis, Department of Chemistry
  • The Innovation in Learning & Teaching Award - Dr Nigel Johnston, Department of Mechanical Engineering
  • The Leadership in Learning & Teaching Award - Dr Michael Silk, Department of Education

About the University Teaching Awards
