Postgraduate Certificate in Academic and Professional Practice
(PGCAPP)
The PGCAPP is no longer available to new staff
Units will continue to be available for current participants who need to complete either their probationary requirements or the Certificate.
Teaching staff enrolling after 2 March 2011 will be required to complete The Bath Course in Enhancing Academic Practice.
What is the PGCAPP?
The Postgraduate Certificate in Academic and Professional Practice (PGCAPP) is a flexible, part-time, work-based, Masters level programme which offers you the opportunity to accredit your academic practice and relevant prior experience towards the qualification.
Wherever possible the programme is aligned to the needs of the individual and the department in which you work. There is strong encouragement for participants to focus assessed work around their disciplinary interests and departmental responsibilities.
Workshops and seminars are arranged to bring you up to date with the current issues of UK Higher Education, to support your teaching, research or supervisory practice, and to offer advice on obtaining support for your teaching and research.
Individual one to one advice is on hand through programme advisers who are drawn from across the University.
Who has to complete it?
Probationary staff with teaching responsibilities who enrolled before 2 March 2011 are required to complete prescribed units of the PGCAPP as part of their probation. Units required are dependent on the length and type of contract.
