Finding and booking a course

The PGSkills courses homepage provides many different ways of finding a course that is relevant to your needs. From here you can search or browse the A-Z, or by date in the course Diary. If you have more specific needs you can browse by skills category or research phase, or for specific courses recommended by your Graduate School.

Each course description page has a link from which you can book a place on a course or waiting list. The link will take you to the online booking system, which you should access using your BUCS username and password. Once booked, you will receive an automated booking confirmation and pre-course reminders. If a course is full, you will be offered a place on a waiting list.

Managing your booking and attendance record

You can view and manage course bookings and places on waiting lists via SAMIS. Once you have logged in to SAMIS you will see an area for PGSkills courses. In this area you can view and cancel your current bookings and print off an attendance record that contains a list of courses you have already attended.  For more information on booking or cancelling a course, waiting list procedures, attendance records or the cancellation policy, please download the guide to PGSkills course bookings.

Research and Academic staff

Finding and booking a course

Research staff and Academic staff each have a homepage, from which you can find relevant courses and development activities.  Each course description page has a link from which you can book a place on a course or waiting list. The link will open up a direct email requesting a place on that course, which will be addressed to a member of the Researcher Development Unit.

Managing your booking

Research or academic staff should contact the Researcher Development Administrators if they have a query or wish to cancel, their booking.
