Course description

As you gain independence in your research and take leadership, your role requires more collaborative and collegiate working.

Your success in achieving research output increasingly relies on your effectiveness in working with others: peers, collaborators, students or PIs.

In this workshop we will look at different aspects of successful relationships in a research context: bringing in some useful theories that can help us to be more effective and confident in managing difficult conversations, influencing and negotiating with others.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session you will have:

  • Reviewed your existing working relationships in research
  • Considered aspects of your relationships that could be more effective
  • Assessed a number of approaches or strategies and planned how you can apply them to improve your own working relationships
