Teaching Development Fund (TDF)
Contents: Annual Theme(s) | Successful project bids 2011/12 | Complete projects
The University has established a Teaching Development Fund as part of its Learning and Teaching Strategy. The Fund is allocated by the University University Learning, Teaching and Quality Committee (ULTQC).
Annual Theme(s)
ULTQC has agreed two themes to be adopted for 2012/13 round, which addressed the following areas of development at the University:
- E-assessment and Feedback
- Student-led feedback mechanisms (developing mechanisms to deliver feedback on assessment with students)
TDF bids which demostrate an elememnt of cross-departmental collaboration wil be particularly welcomed AND favoured. Evidence is expected to be presented in the bids to show how and the level of student involvement in the development of the bids. It is expected that project bids for 2012/13 would include explicit consideration of inclusivity and diversity issues, but it is not intended that this is the main focus of individual proposals.
Proposals are asked to fit with the University learning and teaching strategy. The Committee will look more favourably on proposals which have clearly researched ‘good practice’ in the area of the proposal.
The 2012/13 round of funding will be allocated at the meeting of ULTQC on the 31 May 2012, on the recommendation of a small sub-group (meeting on 11 May 2012).
Between 1999/2000 and 2011/12 around one hundred separate TDF projects have been funded totalling approximately £700,000. The average amount awarded per TDF project in a given year has varied from £4,628 to £11,354.
Project bid proposals for the 2012/13 round of the Teaching Development Fund need to be emailed, in word document format, to Shaun McGall, Learning and Teaching Development Officer by 5.00 p.m. Monday 16 April 2012.
The Format for Project Bids can be found here, with the criteria used by sub-group and Committee members to award funds to projects found here.
