Bristol Region Building Record (BRBR)

The Bristol Region Building Record was established in 1962 by the School of Architecture at the Bristol College of Science and Technology which subsequently became the University of Bath. The collection comprises photographs, illustrations, architectural drawings, plans, text extracts and maps relating to the buildings of Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire originally assembled as a teaching and learning resource for students.

Acquired mainly during the 1960s and 1970s, many of the photographs and drawings in this collection relate to buildings of local, regional and national architectural significance which have drastically changed in appearance or which no longer survive.

There have not been any additions to the collection since December 1999 when it was transferred to the Library from the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

This collection is not yet fully catalogued.

Not all the material in this collection may yet be available for consultation. Enquiries should be addressed in the first instance to the University Archivist.

Size: 1200 items (approx).
