Digimap Ordnance Survey Data Collection

Before you use Digimap, you need to follow instructions for registering your BUCS username & password with EDINA - you MUST NOT share these with anyone. Digimap enables you to access, draw & download digital map data, and it provides the following two collections:

Data and design methods, principles on various engineering topics.

Well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment such as global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, recycling & renewable energy - covers scholarly, government & general-interest titles.

Health & Safety Executive (HSE)

Guidance, and access to publications on health and safety issues and current regulations.

IEEE Xplore

Almost one third of the world's current literature in electrical engineering, electronics and computer science, as published by the IEEE and IEE

Knovel Library

Reference information and data covering a wide spectrum of engineering topics - this database includes:

Lexis Library

Legal information: UK & EU case law, UK & EU legislation & UK law journals

Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

Now owned by Merck. Almost 90,000 data sheets from Sigma-Aldrich chemical companies. Free of charge but registration is required. Once connected, use the search box at the top right of the screen to find a compound, selecting the substance from the next list displayed. Click on the highlighted number next to the compound name to see the full product details. Then use the MSDS link towards the top right of the details screen to view the Materials Safety Data Sheet.

NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS)

A valuable resource for students, educators, researchers, and the public for accessing NASA's current and historical technical literature. NTRS searches three major STI collections: NACA (1915-1958), NASA (1958-present), and NASA Image eXchange (NIX) (1900-present). NTRS provides access to citations/references, online documents and imagery for conference/meeting papers, images, journal articles, photos, movies, patents, research reports, and technical videos.

Natural Product Updates

Abstracts of new developments in natural product chemistry - from key primary journals.

Nexis UK

Easy access to information on companies & industries - including full text access to The Financial Times (20 years), Global Newswire, ICC Company Annual Reports, Directory of Directors & marketing/trade press information - access problem? - if so, exit & then re-enter Nexis UK

Chemical and physical properties from NIST.

Occupational Health & Safety Information Service (OHSIS)

Full text access documents covering health, safety and environmental issues. OHSIS covers current regulations, standards, guidance & best practice documents from many providers including the HSE, Cabinet Office and Government Departments. OHSIS is updated daily and provides an alerting service. Select 'Occupational Health & Information Service' from the homepage.

Pubmed is helpful for bioengineering: it indexes approximately 3,900 biomedical journals, covering material published from 1966 onward - PDF Guide and Tutorials & videos
