Born to great wealth, endowed with precocious talent, displaying pride of ancestry and his family's notorious temper, William Beckford (1760-1844) was a character around whom legends grew, even in his own lifetime. This lecture will investigate the architectural wonders that the writer and collector William Beckford spent his life constructing, revealing the inspirations behind their designs and the magnificent collection he housed within them.

Dr Amy Frost of Bath Preservation Trust is Curator of Beckford's Tower and Collections Manager of the Building of Bath Collection, she has a PhD in Architectural History from the University of Bath.
