An Engineering Adventure

Wednesday 12 October
Lecture Theatre 8W 1.1

Bloodhound SSC is the latest British Land Speed World Record attempt project, led by Richard Noble.  Its ultimate goal is to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists by overcoming the seemingly impossible using technology, maths, physics and engineering.  The project has been designed to be Open Source to be able to provide out-reach into education and the wider public domain.

For more lectures, see the full Autumn 2011 GULP programme.

Mr Dan Johns

Mr Dan Johns' inspiration to becoming an engineer began in his grandfather's shed, from taking apart his lawn mower and building Airfix models, to seeing how resourceful he was at fixing his car and boat.  Dan went on to study Mechanical Engineering and spend 15 years in aerospace as a development engineer in Materials and Processes for aircraft and space systems, where he co-authored 17 patents and won several Industry Awards for Innovation.  The Bloodhound project is a great platform for him to show cutting edge design philosophy and advanced technologies which are normally kept 'behind the scenes' in aerospace and motorsport.
