France and the Modern Olympics
Wednesday 13 February 2013
Venue: Lecture Theatre 8W 1.1
From the Sorbonne Conference which revived the Olympics at the end of the 19th century, to Francois Hollande's tart comment on British medal hopes in the early stages of the 2012 Olympiad, France has played a part in the Modern Olympic movement. This lecture revisits France's role as host of the Olympics since their revival, touching on highs and lows of the past century.
