Currently studying or studied Maths, Languages or Science in the past? If so, we need you!
The Widening Participation Office is currently looking to recruit a number
of Student Ambassadors to fulfil the role of
Outreach Tutor
. We are particularly interested in Maths, Languages and Science students as we would like to
offer selected local schools the opportunity to enrich their pupils’ knowledge in these specific
subjects.
You will be expected to work for approximately 2-3 hours per week during term-time with local secondary students in schools and colleges to raise attainment and their desire to go onto Higher Education.
Lauren Curtis, Outreach Officer said ’These posts provide an excellent opportunity to gain professional work experience and earn some income while you are studying for your degree. If you are interested in teaching or working with young students and inspiring them in these subjects then this is an ideal position. These Outreach Tutor roles will be very varied from assisting in the classroom to running small group lessons in your chosen discipline. You will be expected to encourage students from groups currently under-represented in higher education to see university as a future opportunity'.
Training will be provided and the work you do will count towards the
Bath Award, which provides
formal recognition of your skills, experience and commitment to your own personal
development. You will also be able to quote this experience on your CV and request a work
reference in future.
You should note that the closing date for applications is
Tuesday, 13 November 2012. For further information on the Outreach Tutor role
please go to
