USING THESE RESOURCES * Once unzipped on your VLE, the file you need to link to is "player.html" in each resource's root folder (it will run directly from a local machine but some of the linked resources might not display correctly). * If you want to use Articulate to edit these resources you will need to have both the PPT and the PPTA file in the same location in order to open the PPTA file for editing - if not, you will get an error message. NOTES FROM DECLAN FLEMING * These are the first 4 pre-lecture resources I've made (http://my.rsc.org/blogs/73/261 FFI). They're in a state that should be usable at your institutions. * On the subject of content – it’s not going to please everyone. I’ve tried to balance input from Paul Wyatt and Ian Williams and others (Dave Read has been mega helpful) as well as keeping the links to A-level transparent. As such there have inevitably been some compromises – I’m sure Russell Cox would scream “Planet A-level!” from the rafters in a few places – then again I guess that’s always going to be a weakness of a bridging resource. They’ve proved successful with nearly half the year group suggesting that without them, they might have struggled in some areas of Ian’s course. KNOWN ERRORS - There are a few bugs please pass back any feedback you can offer. * Version numbers - all are the same generation the fact that not all the numbers reflect this is the result of a typo * Equilibrium: Some repaeated motion-path animations are sticking. This is a problem with articulate and there's no easy work around (trust me I've tried)). There has been a request for a walk-through slide for the Qs on slide 12 and 21. * Mechanism: Typo in the contents tree for "hybridisation" * Entropy: Is the chromatography example for a non-spontaneous process misleading? Is the probability approach to entropy misleading? (again I've tried to balance a number of different techniques here - I know about the problems associated with teaching entropy from this angle but I decided on using it but trying to encourage criticism of the model)
