The programme was devised following widespread consultation. This identified a clear need for a part-time professional /practice-based doctorate in higher education management with a structure that combines coursework and substantial research enquiry. As higher education becomes an increasingly complex business it demands leadership and management skills of a higher order than ever before. The DBA (HEM) is aimed at the so-called reflective professional who is career minded and looking for a systematic research programme that gives particular priority to developing management expertise.
