Professional exemptions
BSc Accounting and Finance students can gain professional qualification exemptions offered by the professional accounting bodies listed below.
In addition, students who go on placement with PwC and Ernst & Young will have the opportunity to complete exams contributing to a Professional Accounting Qualification offered by the ACA. Students on placement at KPMG will have a choice of either ACA or ACCA.
Students who spend their placement year at one of the following investment banks: Hendersons, Man Group or UBS, are eligible to complete part of their IMC (Investment Management Certificate). However students will need to demonstrate that they are able to balance this with their placement workload.
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW)
Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business
Our BSc Accounting and Finance degree is an ICAEW Strategic Partnership Degree
, with the maximum of 8 exemptions possible from the professional examinations for their prestigious, professional ACA qualification.
In addition, Module exemptions at Bath cover all the syllabus areas required to gain the Institute’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business.
This qualification does not require you to undertake any relevant technical working experience and the only requirement to gain the qualification is that you sit an online examination for which the Institute provides practice material. This qualification may be of interest to students who do not wish to pursue a career in Accounting and Finance but who would like to demonstrate a certain level of competence to potential employers.

Accreditation of Prior Learning Scheme enables BSc Accounting and Finance students to benefit from a fast track approach to achieving professional qualifications after your degree, therefore reducing time and cost.

If you wish to sit any of the above Professional Body examinations you will need to apply to these professional bodies independently after graduating from the course.
